Look for these quality features when choosing musicians and singers:
1.) Audio samples without voice-altering effects or studio editing: Live recordings that reflect how it will actually sound are best. Voices are often recorded twice or other tricks are used. This means that everything will sound completely different during a live performance, and in most cases not better.
2.) Good equipment: Many people skimp on speakers, microphones, or mixing consoles because they can be very expensive. Paradoxically, many prefer to spend money on making good recordings in the studio but then skimp on equipment. This is doubly disappointing when it comes to live performances.
3.) An appealing basic selection of modern songs in the repertoire: This also reflects the effort the artists put in, or lack thereof. Recording the same old songs once in the studio and then using them as audio samples for customers for the next 10–20 years is, of course, very convenient and easy, but it has little to do with professional and customer-friendly work.
4.) Too much self-promotion is a warning sign: Even if some musicians are too good to play at weddings, there are others who see it as an easy way to make money and, having failed to achieve success elsewhere, now use weddings as a stage. What they forget, however, is that at a wedding, someone else is the star and restraint and discreet manners are called for. This is a service, and the customer's needs should be the top priority. It is usually easy to tell who is putting themselves or the service in the spotlight. So pay attention to this when making your selection.
What to consider when choosing a DJ for your wedding:
1.) Why a wedding DJ: It doesn't matter what the DJ likes. Many DJs are little divas and show-offs. That's vital to survive in the club scene. If someone is a house DJ, they don't play pop songs, and if they're a hip-hop DJ, they don't play rock because they don't like it and it's not their thing. Many DJs also find requests from guests annoying because they can't make cool transitions and everything becomes much more stressful. Of course, as a club DJ, you have to save face and stay true to your style in order to gain recognition and, in the best case, become successful/famous. Understandable, but rather poor conditions for a wedding. That's exactly why we recommend a professional wedding DJ for your wedding.
2.) A good wedding DJ fulfills every music request: With today's tools, it's no longer particularly difficult to be well equipped. There's no need to lug around records or turntables, and thousands of songs in excellent quality can be stored on a laptop. You never know exactly what your guests will ultimately want to hear, and it would be a shame if the DJ only had pop and rock in their repertoire.
3.) Qualities of a wedding DJ: A wedding DJ should always respond individually to the needs and moods of the party guests. With the necessary sensitivity, they will accompany every section, even every moment, with the right sounds to set the mood. Flexibility, restraint, sensitivity, dedication, good manners, foresight... these are the virtues that a DJ should bring to a wedding. So try to pay attention to these things.
These are just a few characteristics that will help you make your decision.
